Youth Hunt Essay Contest
A Hunt for Kids Only Makes a Dream Come True!
The special Junior Hunt contest sponsored by The GOAL Foundation received applicants from all across the state. The panel of judges has reviewed the letters sent and the lucky youngster is Sara Townsley of Ashfield. She was the only applicant to receive unanimous support.
Sara wrote "As far back as I can remember, I realize what a part of my life hunting has been. I remember tagging along with my dad deer hunting when I was six. I have been on a few hunts but never had any luck and always been on my family¹s land."
She went on to talk about her family, the financial situation we are all finding ourselves in these days and the hope that she could go beyond Massachusetts to hunt. She turned 16 at the end of May and was sent her congratulations letter one week before that milestone of a birthday rolled around. We hope it made her big day all the more special.
Runner up chosen by the judges was Matthew Moffett from Adams. Should some unforeseen event happen that would prohibit Sara from going, Mr. Moffett would be next in line.
Thanks to all who participated in the contest and by the looks of things we hope to make this an annual program.
We are really grateful to Bang and Tom Collins of Paradise Valley Hunt Club in Erhrardt, SC for their support in this venture. They run a great service where Jon, my son and I along with other GOAL members have hunted for several years. The food is awesome and the weather is usually very nice making the hunts enjoyable. The hunt in this contest will be for three days and completely guided exclusively in areas for the selected hunter only.
The GOAL Foundation is sponsoring a contest for a youngster to win a deer hunt in South Carolina.
This is a great chance for a boy or girl to win a great, guided, all inclusive hunting trip!
To enter the contest the boy or girl must write a short letter telling why they should be chosen for an all-expense paid hunt. They must include a recent photo along with their name, address, date of birth, phone number, and the name and phone number of a parent or guardian. Applicants must be 14-18 years of age and have a hunter safety certificate from any state.
Once the lucky winner is chosen, we'll contact both the youngster and the parent or guardian to go over the specific details of the travel and hunt arrangements.
Bang and Tom Collins, owners of the Paradise Valley Hunt Club in Ehrarhdt, South Carolina, have agreed to donate the actual hunt on one of their private properties!
The hunt in this contest would be for three days and completely guided in areas exclusively for the selected hunter only.
The dates of the hunt would be October 7-9, 2010
The parent or guardian would be able to sit with the hunter should they wish to video the event. Processing and packaging of the game would be included. All travel arrangements for the winner and parent/guardian will be taken care of, along with transportation of the equipment and supplies needed for the hunt.
For those who remember how great it felt the first time you hunted, don't be shy sending a donation to The GOAL Foundation to help us make this dream come true. Just mark your check "Junior Hunt Contest".
Entries must be postmarked by April 19, 2010. Letters should be sent to:
